This is a paper yarn with a raw silk (for an additional strength). Dyed by an indigo dyer in Japan without any synthetic chemical in the vat. The green was achieved by overdyeing the indigo with a natural yellow dye "kihada." Strong enough as a warp yarn. Interesting for a basket maker, too. Please try knitting a simple stitch. The color will do the job for you! If you are a dyer yourself, there is a white available also. Please take a look at
N-24.

*** The naturally dyed indigo yarns need to "age." The darker color indigo especially will "dye" your hands at first as you work with it. This is because indigo never penetrates "into" the fiber, but simply sits on the surface of the yarn. After letting it sit for several months and also washing repeatedly, the color will settle. The blue will simply get better from there on.
