Slightly greener than the other ramies. (The green will fade over time.) Made from the stalk of ramie plant. The skin of the stalk is stripped, and the fiber is split one by one into approx. 1 yard length. The ends are twisted and connected together all by hand. Extremely labor intensively created yarn. Still available from a small village in China. Great texture for weavers, basket makers, etc. Very sculptural. Dyes well. The color may change from one lot to the other. Please always take the beginning of the yarn from the "center" of the ball. There is a direction to this yarn, and you do not want to reverse it. (If you cannot find it immediately, please take a crochet hook, and scratch inside a bit to drag out the beginning.)
